Five full days, excluding flights. Start in the north, then head southwest. This is an editorial route suggestion; adjust the order to your accommodation, reservations and daily notices.

PUERTO DE LA CRUZ · LA OROTAVA
Northern towns and coast
Morning
Begin with central Puerto de la Cruz and its waterfront. Keep the morning for finding your bearings, breakfast and a relaxed wander rather than a long checklist.
Afternoon
Spend the afternoon in La Orotava’s old town. If you arrive late or your flight takes up part of the day, stay in Puerto and move La Orotava to another day.
Plan ahead · With a car
Stay in Puerto de la Cruz. Use designated parking and explore the centres on foot. La Orotava is optional depending on your arrival time.
If plans change
In persistent rain, shorten the coastal walk and look for open indoor venues in town. Avoid natural pools in rough seas.
Focus on the area around Cruz del Carmen. Check trail conditions before choosing a walk and allow for fog and winding mountain roads.
Afternoon
Stay in the same part of the park for viewpoints. We leave out Benijo and long traverses so there is time to return in daylight without crossing the whole massif.
Plan ahead · With a car
Second night in Puerto de la Cruz. Choose a few stops, park only where permitted and check restrictions for your chosen trail.
If plans change
If mountain travel is discouraged, visit La Laguna. Never enter a closed trail even with a reservation.
Set aside a day for the park’s landscapes. Begin with accessible viewpoints and the Roques de García area if open; assess conditions before starting your planned walk.
Afternoon
The cable car is a separate option, subject to operation and booking. This route does not include a summit ascent. Keep the afternoon flexible for returning to your base.
Plan ahead · With a car
Third night in Puerto de la Cruz. Check road access, notices and parking arrangements. Pack warm layers even if the coast is sunny.
Move your base southwest with plenty of time to arrive. If you choose a wildlife boat trip, check the exact port, language, vessel and meeting point before booking.
Afternoon
Walk along the Adeje coast. The boat is optional: a quiet afternoon beside the sea works too. We leave out Masca and Los Gigantes to keep the day manageable.
Plan ahead · With a car
First night in Costa Adeje. Do not book a boat straight after the drive from the north; leave a generous buffer.
Stay near your base for a waterfront walk and a slow breakfast. You could use the morning for a boat trip postponed from yesterday if conditions now allow it.
Afternoon
Leave time to rest and enjoy the coast rather than adding another major excursion. If you prefer history to the ocean, replace your Anaga day with La Laguna during the northern part of the trip, avoiding another island crossing today.
Plan ahead · With a car
Second night in Costa Adeje if leaving tomorrow. Leave the car parked today and explore a coastal section that suits your accommodation on foot.
If plans change
Use today as a buffer for postponed activities or rest. On a flight day, prioritise the airport transfer and check-in buffer; we do not count the transfer as sightseeing.

Before you pack
Can I follow this route without a car?
Yes, with changes. Use urban connections for La Laguna and the north, and consider tours with pickup for mountain days. The transport selector suggests specific adjustments; it does not promise identical journeys.
Does the cable car include a summit permit?
Not by default. Check the exact product and consult Tenerife ON for regulated trails.
Can I book on IslaRoam?
No. We link to sources and external providers where you can check availability and conditions.
