Maspalomas or Mogán: choose your day by the sea

Morning

Choose the lighthouse promenade and a marked dunes access. If you prefer a southwest boat trip, replace this programme with the outing and confirmed boarding and return arrangements.

Afternoon

Rest near your chosen area. Puerto de Mogán is another option for a walk and beach, not a compulsory stop after crossing the reserve on foot.

Planning your transport

Use authorised parking and respect trails. Confirm the harbour for any activity: Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán are separate locations.

ORGANISED ALTERNATIVE

Puerto de Mogán: a wildlife boat trip

A boat experience from Puerto de Mogán as an alternative to southwest-coast visits. Wildlife and stops depend on sea conditions.

If plans change

With poor sea conditions, keep a promenade and an open land-based visit. In excessive heat, reduce sand walking and choose an accessible alternative.

TEJEDA · ROQUE NUBLO / ARTENARA

Tejeda and one chosen highland visit

Morning

With booking and access arranged, dedicate the morning to Roque Nublo. For a non-hiking day or without a reservation, choose Artenara’s centre as an alternative, not a compulsory second excursion.

Afternoon

Allow time for lunch and a Tejeda walk if it fits your route. Return with a buffer rather than adding Bandama or the west coast afterwards.

Planning your transport

Parking beside La Goleta is not assumed. Arrange designated parking and buses using official information. With rain, fog or closures, choose an open accessible visit.

ORGANISED ALTERNATIVE

Bandama, villages and mountain panoramas

An organised excursion replacing the independent mountain day. Roque Nublo is viewed from a lookout: the hike to the rock is not included.

Pickup is limited to specified Las Palmas locations. Do not assume pickup from the south or access to the S-70 trail. Confirm the route and language.

If plans change

A town day near your accommodation is preferable to forcing a closed access. Do not move the highland visit to flight day to make up for it.

GÁLDAR · AGAETE

Gáldar and Agaete: heritage or a farm visit, without rushing

Morning

With your slot confirmed, visit Cueva Pintada and explore Gáldar. If you prefer Agaete’s coffee farm, make it the main visit instead of the museum.

Afternoon

With time to spare, continue to Puerto de las Nieves for lunch and a walk. The coffee valley needs another transfer: do not add it after a full museum, harbour and swimming day.

Planning your transport

Check parking and access. Arrange transport or a non-drinking driver for a tasting. We do not add the mountain road to Artenara at the end.

ORGANISED ALTERNATIVE

Arehucas Distillery: guided visit

Discover rum production and the distillery’s history in Arucas. It can replace part of the northern cultural day; we do not add it after a full visit to Gáldar and Agaete.

Meet at the distillery; no transfer is assumed. Check language, mobility and tasting conditions. Arrange a non-driving return if you taste alcohol.

If plans change

Without a museum slot, keep a Gáldar walk or choose Arucas or Teror as a different day. With rough seas, enjoy Agaete from land.

LAS PALMAS · VEGUETA / LAS CANTERAS

Vegueta and Las Canteras, with time between neighbourhoods

Morning

Start in Vegueta and choose one cultural venue if you want to go inside. Explore the squares before travelling to another part of the city.

Afternoon

Spend the afternoon on the Las Canteras promenade. A surf lesson or guided kayak replaces part of the walk rather than being added to a full afternoon.

Planning your transport

Use authorised parking and explore each neighbourhood on foot. Travel between Vegueta and Las Canteras takes time; avoid trying to park beside every building.

ORGANISED ALTERNATIVE

Beginner paddleboarding at Las Canteras

A SUP lesson for discovering the coast from the water. It replaces a longer beach walk; this is not a conventional surfing lesson or a kayak trip.

If plans change

With poor sea conditions, replace swimming or water sports with a walk and an open museum. If your venue closes, the historic quarter’s outdoor walk remains an alternative.

DEPARTURE · YOUR FLIGHT COMES FIRST

Today, straight to the airport LPA.

Until you know your flight time, keep this day free. Do not book an activity relying on a time buffer you cannot yet confirm.

Follow your airline’s arrival instructions; check traffic, check-in and security.
Allow time for fuel, rental return and reaching the terminal.
No ferries, boats, scuba diving, mountain routes or remote excursions on flight day.

Before planning your trip

Can I just drive to the Roque Nublo trailhead?

Do not assume so. Check regulations, booking and transport from designated parking areas.

Does the Vegueta walk include admissions?

No. An independent walk and museum admissions are separate choices. Check your chosen venue.

Can I walk anywhere in the dunes?

No. Follow designated paths and signs. Photography or beach access does not justify leaving them.

FROM PLACE TO TRIP

Choose an experience. Give it time.

Organised excursions are alternatives to independent visits. You do not need to do both to enjoy the island.
