Corralejo dunes: a careful approach
Start from a permitted Grandes Playas access and enjoy the contrast between sand and sea. There is no need to cross the entire dune field.
Carry water and sun protection and turn back before becoming tired. A short walk is preferable to relying on unconfirmed shade or transport.
Calderón Hondo: allow time for the walk
Allow a proper block of time to walk from a suitable access. Enjoy the volcanic landscape near Lajares with appropriate footwear and without approaching the crater edge.
In strong wind or heat, replace the climb with a village walk. Do not try to recover every missed visit by overloading another day.
Ajuy: read the coast from the path
Ajuy’s geological walk justifies spending time in the west. Observe without collecting rocks or fossils and use only the signed access.
If swell, wind or closures prevent continuing, keep the village walk. Do not look for alternative ways over rocks or cliffs.
Cofete: replace a day rather than extend it
Cofete replaces the southern programme. Check vehicle permission and cover before the track; a rental does not authorise every road.
Tiadhe publishes route 111 from Morro Jable. Check timing, conditions and return. We suggest enjoying this exposed coast’s scenery, not assured swimming.
Before choosing
Can I see it all in one day?
Choose the north, west or Cofete. These are different areas and the map does not calculate actual transfers.
Does any rental cover tracks?
Do not assume so. Read your agreement and ask the supplier before using a track.
Do I need a long route to enjoy the dunes?
No. A short walk from a permitted access is also worthwhile.
FROM PLACE TO TRIP
What you want to see, in five days.
Organised excursions are alternatives to independent visits. You do not need to do both to enjoy the island.
